Hey Modelers!  Welcome to the ModelGeeks Podcast, a place where we talk about anything and everything relating to scale models.  Sit back and buckle up for an exciting journey into the world of scale modeling.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re new to the hobby, been around since Moses, or that you build aircraft, armor, ships, or automobiles.  We hope to have a little bit for each of you.

Our format is simple; modeling news you can use with a few tips and techniques, some lighthearted banter (maybe a beer or two...) and most importantly, interaction with you, the listener!  Please feel free to drop us an email at: contact@modelgeekspodcast.com and weigh in on whatever our show topic is.  You can also find us on the ModelGeeks Facebook Page or our website:  www.modelgeekspodcast.com.

In closing, thanks to all the ModelGeeks out there!  This podcast wouldn't exist without the tremendous support we have received from all the Geeks!  We really hope that you will download and make us a regular part of your modeling bench sessions.  As we always say... be excellent to each other and by all means, get out there and build something!

MGPC Ep. 107 Nats Short...Wrap Up!

Tue, 08/12/2025 - 12:00

Welcome to Episode 107 of The Modelgeeks Podcast!

We are back home from the 2025 IPMS USA Nationals in Hampton, VA. We had an absolute great time over the course of the 4-day event.

Rather than wait until our next episode to drop a “wrap up” or “recap” we thought we would stick to the plan of the last few days and drop one more “Short” to talk about the awards, judging, thank a few folks, and bring it on home.

No interviews but a few mentions of some websites to check out so catch those links below.

Thank you for making our time at the Nats a great experience!

We would like to thank all you listeners out there for the continued support you have given the show.

Mentioned in the Episode:

Tony Faust stopped by the table to say hello, this is the podcast he hosts along with Bill Redman and Kevin Yeo:

  ODIN & AESOP

  • Our three hosts, Tony, Bill, and Kevin release monthly episodes conducting detailed reviews of military books spanning from World War I to the Global War On Terrorism.

Jim Harley, former Warbird pilot with the Collins Foundation, runs a small resin conversion company specializing in post WWII racing Warbirds:

MGPC Ep. 107 Nats Short, Day 4

Sat, 08/09/2025 - 18:00

Welcome to Episode 107, Day 4 of The Modelgeeks Podcast!

We are on-site at the IPMS USA Nationals in Hampton, VA!Final day here at the Nats and it has been a great time! Thank you all for listening in and following along.

Today we had the opportunity to talk with author, Chief Petty Officer Venner Milewski USN (Ret) who has a series of book covering U.S. Naval vessels titled Fighting Ships of the U.S. Navy 1883-2019. The series covers a wide range of ships, and the books are a must for ship builders. We also talked with two GUNPLA builders who share their thoughts on the genre. And finally, with apologies to James and Clare of the Agora Models team I have their interview up, two days late…give it a listen and learn about these fine models.

It was another long but enjoyable day on the floors here at Nats and we are headed out the door to the awards banquet! Hope to see you in Fort Wayne, IN for the 2026 Nats!

MGPC Ep. 107 Nats Short Day 1

Wed, 08/06/2025 - 21:00

Welcome to Episode 107 of The Modelgeeks Podcast!

In this episode we are on-site at the IPMS USA Nationals in Hampton, VA. Rather than drop a single episode covering the Nats we wanted to try something a little different. Over the course of the 4-day Nats we will record short segments covering the day’s events, what caught our eye in the display hall, what products are hot in the vendor hall, and most importantly who we meet and speak with about the hobby. We hope to get in a few interviews with folks in the hobby, be it fellow modelers, or new vendors on the scene promoting the brand. If you couldn’t make it to Hampton for the Nats, tune in and we’ll try to convey what each day brings…especially any news on new kits or products. So, let’s get on with what Day 1 brought!

We would like to thank all you listeners out there for the continued support you have given the show.

MGPC Ep. 103, Your Modeling Influences w/ Guest Rob Riviezzo

Sat, 06/21/2025 - 08:00

Welcome to Episode 103 of The Modelgeeks Podcast!

In this episode we are privileged to have Mr. Rob Riviezzo, host of the “Modeling Insanity” podcast” and the “Quarter Scale Madness” podcast, sitting in the studio with us. Rob shares his insight into the hobby, and his own modeling influences with us. Rob is also the U.S. Associate Editor of Military Modelcraft International magazine (http://www.militarymodelcraft.co.uk/), and I’m sure a huge influence in his own right on many armor modellers out there.
In response to an email from listener Luis Toledo, of Lancaster CA, we get into a great discussion on entering contests and should that be a barometer of one’s modeling skills? Each host weighs in on that topic.
In our Main Topic we each discuss who or what has influenced our modeling through the years. Some famous, and infamous folks make the list!

We would like to thank all you listeners out there for the continued support you have given the show.

Share your work with us and the rest of the scale modeling community through our web page, or through our Facebook community page. We love seeing other people’s work. Who knows who you may inspire someone through your latest masterpiece!
